Hi! My Name is Alexi Neele. I am a city girl on the go! I live in Cabbagetown, an historic neighbourhood in downtown Toronto with my mom, dad and Chapta, my beautiful Bengal cat, and I love life in the big city! St. Lawrence Market, the TTC and the CN Tower are all part of my world. My favourite class is science — I like doing research and solving mysteries. One day I want to be a famous inventor – I want to design things that make life easier for people with different abilities. I really enjoy gymnastics and go every Saturday. I love the feeling of working hard and improving at something. The trampoline is my favourite!
Hello! My Name is Brianne Kovac. I am from farm country, Manitoba. People say I am a ‘study in contrasts’, but don’t let my penchant for pink and pretty things fool you — I’ve got big dreams and lots of determination! When I grow up I want to be a farmer like my Mom, or a ballerina…or both! I belong to 4-H and love all our farm animals — my Welsh pony named Chinook, our black and white dairy cows, our dogs Go-fer and Crocus, Hoppit and her bunnies, and, of course, Fingers, our barn cat. On our farm there is my mom, my older brother and my grandparents, Baba and Gigi. Baba’s perogies and holubtsi (cabbage rolls) are to die for! I celebrate my Ukrainian heritage by dancing in the big Ukrainian Festival in Dauphin every year.
Hello! I’m Charlsea. I live on Salt Spring Island — the biggest Gulf Island on the “Wet Coast” of British Columbia. I guess it is special to live on an island, but to me, Salt Spring is simply home — the place where I feel safe, comfortable, and free as a red-winged blackbird. I love going on adventures, like kayaking to Carlos Island, or searching for sea otters and sea stars on Vancouver Island, or weekending in Whistler. I am just as happy at home, gathering things from our organic garden to sell at the family farm stand at the end of our driveway, or taking care of The Empress, my mischievous little goat, and my sheep, Kam and Loops. One day I would like to be an architect, but for now I’m content to be building an eco-friendly tree-house.
Hello! I am Jenna McAllister, but some people call me Flash. I got my nickname from being a girl in motion. I love soccer and running (well, all sports really), and am always on the move. I live in Lunenburg, Nova Scotia, home of the Bluenose, with my parents, three brothers and two orange tabby cats, MacKenzie and Fox. I have fiery red hair, a personality to match and the sea is in my blood. I love to sail and I am learning to Highland Dance too! I like my quiet time too, especially when I can cuddle with my two orange tabby cats, MacKenzie and Fox. It’s fun to daydream about the future and think about what I might like to do when I’m older … will it be marine biology or sports medicine?
Bonjour! My name is Léonie Belanger-Leblanc. I live in historic Québec City, with my maman, papa and my twin sisters. Oh yes, and Piccolo, my pet cockatiel! Hockey is my game — Atom at the local arena and outdoor hockey whenever I can. I love writing music, playing my guitar and jamming with my friends. When I visit my cousins at the cabane à sucre, I get dressed up in my Pioneer Québécoise costume. La vie est belle!
Hi! My name is Saila Qilavvaq and I live the furthest north! My home is in Iqaluit, Nunavut. I speak English and Inuktitut and am proud of my Inuit heritage. I love wearing my traditional amauti, kamiik and Pang hat, and eating country foods, pizza and my grandma’s bannock and crowberry jam. Our family likes to go to our camp in all seasons. In summer when the ice is gone, we travel up the coast by boat, and in winter we all pile into the qamutiik that Dad pulls with the snowmobile. Someday I would like to be a fashion designer and create modern clothing with an Inuit flair! I am so excited — I am getting a new puppy! He is almost all white and so I named him Nanuq, which means polar bear.
Hello! My name is Taryn Brady. I live in beautiful Banff, Alberta. I’m an environmentalist at heart. I guess that’s why my favourite colour is green! Living in the Canadian Rockies give me lots of opportunity to wilderness camp with my family, search for butterflies with my dog Boulder, and ski down the mountains. It also gives me lots of beautiful scenery to paint so my watercolour paints are always in my backpack, just in case! But don’t get me wrong … I don’t spend all my time in the mountains. My family enjoys going to country fairs and rodeos too. I guess you could say I’m a real western girl!
